Elluminate

Last week in my 188 technology class my teacher showed us how to do study sessions on this website called Elluminate. It was an online meeting in which the whole class and teacher could all talk at once and draw stuff on the "whiteboard" for everyone to see. It was such a great idea! I think that I'm going to suggest that we use it for group projects instead of all meeting at school face to face. It would be a huge time saver for those that live far from campus. Everyone was able to say what they wanted and you could even go back and look at what had been said in the past since the start of a meeting. I really think that this could help me in my final semester at SJSU and save everyone time as well.

Hi Hilary,

If you'd like your own free virtual meeting room to try out, Elluminate vRoom is available. It has all the functionality of Elluminate Live! (except recording)for you and up to two others at a time. And you can use it for as long as you like.

Just visit www.getvroom.com where you can also see a variety of examples about how others are using their vRooms.

i use a tool similar to this. not sure how many people elluminate allows to collaborate virtually at once, but yugma (https://www.yugma.com) allows up to 10+host in a meeting at once. this is for the free service and does things like the whiteboard, switching presenter (to see what your group member is doing) and they recently integrated with skype. i do meetings with my colleagues for $0 - and none of us have to travel. it's great! check it out.
