Elluminate

Last week in my 188 technology class my teacher showed us how to do study sessions on this website called Elluminate. It was an online meeting in which the whole class and teacher could all talk at once and draw stuff on the "whiteboard" for everyone to see. It was such a great idea! I think that I'm going to suggest that we use it for group projects instead of all meeting at school face to face. It would be a huge time saver for those that live far from campus. Everyone was able to say what they wanted and you could even go back and look at what had been said in the past since the start of a meeting. I really think that this could help me in my final semester at SJSU and save everyone time as well.

Microsoft Access

Has everyone worked with Microsoft Access before? This is the first semester that I have ever used it and I am totally enjoying all the many different features. We don't use access at my work but it would definitely come in handy when working with large databases. I think that the features are very beneficial for companies, especially large manufacturing or service firms. If you entered all of the customer information into the database you could easily find their contact information at the click of a button. As a management major I think that the skills I have learned about Access will help me and my companies stay organized in the future.

Meetings Website

Does anyone know of any good time management or meeting websites? As management majors we are constantly doing group projects and we need a way to easily set meeting times when everyone is available. I heard from a classmate that there are website where you can put in the days/times you are available during the week and the website finds times where all members are free. I would love to use a website like this rather than having to send multiple e-mails to all the members. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Use of technology in the classroom

I noticed today for the first time how management classes use more technological advanced mediums than other majors. My fiance is going to school to get his teaching credential and all of his classes and assignments are out of textbooks, nothing is online. My classes on the other hand all have online slides, activities and group work. I wonder if that is because teachers are trained to use common means for teaching whereas managers are taught to exercise the use of technology as they will in the workplace. Organizations are at the forefront of technological advances and as future managers we must be prepared to use them. Without technology, managers would not be able to effectively manage their companies.

Best and Worst at SJSU!

Does anyone have any recommendations for teachers at San Jose State for the management department? I only have one semester left and really want to make the most of it. I'm looking for a good 189 teacher, 162 teacher and an easy PE class. This semester I ended up with really hard classes (especially my 142 quality management class, don't ever take Bentley). I must really have senioritis because I really just want to finish school on a good note. Working full time doesn't leave much room for doing group projects and such.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
